Healing Sound Bath (Rochester, NY)

Healing Sound Bath (Rochester, NY)

A sound bath is a multi-sensory guided meditation experience.

Sound and silence are as fundamental to the human experience as breath and light. We use sound to connect, communicate, heal and transform. Both modern science and ancient spirituality agree that sound and music can have a profound impact on human consciousness.

Together, we will explore how and why music, song and prayer can be powerful, practical tools for meditation and healing. Our session will include a guided sound meditation as well as an open conversation about these topics. Your questions and comments are welcome and appreciated as part of a co-created experience.

The Sonic Institute unites ancient spirituality with modern science to reveal the impact of sound vibration on health and consciousness. Join us for this guided sound meditation and conversation about the principles of sound healing from global perspectives.

Singing bowls, gongs, flutes, crystal instruments, drums, guitars, and a range of other tools are used throughout the journey. Vibrations and overtones produced by these powerful instruments can be felt throughout the body. Sound baths hold space for deep relaxation, emotional release, and setting intentions for the future.

The event will also include an orientation to the vast world of sound healing and meditation to better integrate the experience.

Donate to register: $20-50(no one will be turned away for lack of funds)

Gemini Season Full Moon in Sagittarius invites us to take a look ahead to what we are imagining for our futures. Sagittarius is represented by the Archer, with it in the position of the moon which rules our intuition, our emotions, our dreams, we are given the opportunity to direct our focus to higher truths about ourselves. The archer is half horse half man, the horse representing our animal, instinctual nature, the man representing our intellectual nature with its arrow pointing high into the sky. Since we are in the season of Gemini, which rules our intellectual nature and our desire for more information. As we collect more information about ourselves during this time, this Sagittarius moon helps us to assimilate that information and turn it into knowledge and wisdom to give direction to our lives.

Join us for this moment of self-care through conscious connection to the astrological moment, a sound bath, warm tea and more.

Bring a pen, paper, and if you feel called, something to charge under this new moon energy.

African Drum Circle with Abdoul Doumbia, Mali presented by Sounds of Liberation

Imagination is the power of creation. The sounds and songs of the world are bridges to freedom and awareness.

We welcome special guest and traditional Djembe player, Abdoul Doumbia. In this month’s Sounds of Liberation we will focus on connecting to our rhythm and to the traditional medicine of the Djembe and other drums.

Bring your voice, instruments and dance to this space of shared humanity to connect with sacred sound through song, story and prayer. Together we will cultivate the consciousness of joy, love, gratitude, dignity and peace in ourselves to radiate throughout the world.

No prior musical experience necessary, this is an opportunity for you to get your hands on instruments and play!

Abdoul Doumbia was born in Bamako, Mali in 1965 and was raised in the village of Foutaka Zambougou near the ancient Bamana city of Segou. At the age of five Abdoul began to learn the music of his culture. He went on to complete a 16 year apprenticeship with master drummer Moriba Keita in Bamako. Abdoul worked with many professional drum and dance companies in Mali, including nine years as lead drummer for the renowned traditional drum and dance troupe Babemba, and was chosen to represent his region for eight consecutive years in the National Drum Festival of Mali. Abdoul immigrated to the United States in 1991 to accept a position at Brown University. He taught regularly on the east coast, including classes at Yale, Harvard, Princeton, RISDI, the University of Florida, and the University of Connecticut before moving to Boulder, Colorado in 1998 where he currently lives and teaches.  In Colorado Abdoul has taught classes at CU, Naropa and The Colorado College. Abdoul is known for his mastery of Malian djembe and dunun and is a respected source of information regarding Mali's rich culture and history.

This is a time to focus on cultivating our authenticity, creative self-expression, and releasing old patterns to embrace your unique role within the larger community.

Join us to honor this time with an astrological alignment of this time, a sound bath, integrations circle with a nice warming beverage, and more.
